when traveling

We've all heard a picture is worth a thousand words, but how about a picture can create a thousand words. Tonight as I was driving to the airport, the sky flashed rose and gold. Having my architectural supplies in the seat next to me, including my camera, I captured the part of Colorado that I love. I boarded the bus that would take me to my gate and decided to keep snapping pictures despite all the people and luggage around me. When I was getting off the bus, the driver asked me, "Would you like a picture of me?" He caught me off guard with him South African accent, but why not??? If I had met this man on the street, things would probably be different. We might not even have been able to converse in the same language, but today a picture could surpass language.
To the bus driver with personality.

as of lately

i had an amazing time last week in new york city. i didn't think it was possible to fall in love with a city thrice but yeah it just happened. every ounce of me yearns to live in the city, and i do believe that this trip confirmed my decision to move as soon as i graduate. i've always thought that i was born in the wrong state--i mean i hate the beach and the extreme sun, so what am i doing in california. i'm constantly kept on my toes in nyc and what i've come to love more than anything is the sound of the approaching subway. the clicks the clacks, the frightful rush, the sudden screech, and the release of a blur of faces. i trust that i can find love in nyc whether it be the attitude of the city itself or from another who shares my love of it.

a few of my favorite pictures from my travels to the big apple...of my eye :)

for the love of curiosity

Every week I work at least three days a week at the mall. I interact with so many different kinds of people. Wandering a mall in my small town you would think that nearly everyone lived within thirty miles of the mall, but if it’s your job to interact with them, then you learn that there are people on vacation from Michigan and Wisconsin and even a thriving Korean-speaking community. Of all the hundreds of people I see every day, the little ones that peep at me from behind things are the most intriguing. They want to see what piece of art work I’m working on next or what media I’m working with. We don’t even know each other, but with a few words we can start talking about anything. Who knows where conversations will go with little kids? We are naturally curious creatures. But maybe it’s not a bad way to live? Did you know that finger monkeys existed?

They are so impossibly cute!!! What else could be discovered with a little curiousity?

Kuriously,

Katie
